identifying owners

Hello

I have a property ripe for enforced sale, but no owners details.

We have engaged the services of a tracing company, and are considering posting a requisition for information on the property, and advertising in the local press.

1. are these appropiate and sufficient?

2. any advise on advertising in the press?

3. any other usual methods of tracing required before enforced sale should be considered?

thank you

Dear Luke,

You leave out more information than you are giving. Is the house registered? What does the council tax history reveal? What have the neighbours told you? Is there any mail on the mat? Who is it addressed to? Are there any letters containing further leads? Give me what you've got I'll have a look for you. 0115 9156128. andrew.vickers@nottinghamcity.gov.uk

You must take advice from your legal dept as to what level of enquiry they would require before they are willing to start the enforced sale process.

It is fairly draconian legislation which does not require court action, and after the sale the LA gives "good title" so if the old owner pops up it would be embarrassing.
