Northgate for Council Tax

Morning All

Wolverhampton is in the process of transfering its Council Tax system to Northgate.

I hear a number of Authorities use this and would like to know what access you get in terms of empty property information.

Are there are any standard programmes used for extracting information on a regular basis (monthly annual lists etc)?

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi Richard, we use this system and we do get monthly data from our revenues dept. The data is transferred into excel and we (ahem well our knowledgable support officers) extract certain info from it, like the 6 months empty figure and total empty figure for the month. We can also use this for mail outs targetting for example those longer term empties or certain exemptions classes. Hope this is helpful.

Richard, we use Northgate. It is a shared system with integrated Housing Renenues accounts. As EPO I have access to part of the system that deals with Council Tax but not the benefits side. My access level is read only. I am able to access the main property information including landlord and owner details, previous occupants and the property notes (but not the account notes which are needed at times). I receive 2 monthly reports in spreadsheet form produced by the manager in Council Tax section as i'm not able to run reports. The first report is current exemptions and the other is discounted properties. I'm able to produce stats and sort records in excel as required.

The only drawback I can highlight is that with restricted access I do not have access to the attached notes or files. These often contain vital contact information for persons or accounts.

The Northgate system is fairly easy to understand once you learn your way around. Copy/paste option is also available for data from within the system, making transferring of details to other applications less prone to corruption.

Could you let me have the contact details of the best contact in your Council Tax division and I'll get me people to talk to your people in a language only Council Tax people understand.
