Action on Empty Homes launches 'Community Action on Empty Homes' report

Action on Empty Homes (formerly The Empty Homes Agency), has launched its report entitled 'Community Action on Empty Homes', outlining its findings of a three-year study of 6 community led projects.

Whilst outlining the fantastic work done by these community groups, the report also issues a call to action on Local Authorities, Central Government, Funding Partners and Housing Associations to do more with the tools and resources available, to return more empty homes to use across the Country.

Best Local Authority / Community Housing Organisation Partnership Award 2015

This was the second year that this Partnership award has been presented at our Empty Homes Awards 2015 ceremony, (ceremony sponsored by Grafton UK Ltd). The Award was jointly sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and the Empty Homes Network itself, reflecting the commitment of both organisations to fostering partnership working between local authorities and community organisations.

Methodist Action North-West CGP Partnership Project

This strong regeneration partnership is documented in the attached case study prepared by Methodist Action North West.

In brief summary, the case study notes:

MANW secured the funding from the DCLG to help bring empty properties back into use through a ‘One Stop Shop’ solution. Each property refurbishment was managed by the Empty Homes team who on completion passed the property over to the APTL team to lease for an agreed period of time. APTL offers a service that is the point of contact for landlord and tenant.
